Natural and Slow Design

"The search for perfect minimal harmony is the driving force in my work"

That is how Caroline Gomez defines her work as a designer. Using natural materials and craftsmanship, and focusing on small scale products produced in limited series, Caroline builds her world while searching for , simplicity and what is essential to an object. Visiting her web-shop is a delightful experience. With her  lovely pictures and products for the everyday life she also allows us to dream and create our own beautiful world. Thank you for that!

Kay Bojesen

via Stylizimo

If you are like me, and like to find out a bit about the products that are so often featured in the interior design images that flood the blogosphere and the magazines, this post will make you happy. The little dude hanging in the picture above is the monkey (1951) designed by Kay Bojesen. Kay Bojesen (1886-1958) was the Danish designer that, among other things, gave us some of the wooden toys most seen in Scandinavian homes. Today they are produced by Rosendahl and appreciated mostly by grown-ups still in contact with their inner child.

NÄMÄ shop

All the images below come from an on-line shop called Nämä based in finland. All products available are picked by the shop owner giving preference to local companies, manufacturers and designers. I think Nämä has that atmosphere of the sweet little shop just around the corner, where you go for inspiration and a smile when you feel overwhelmed by "mass production living"... except that this one is available to the entire world via the internet. I chose to share some of the ceramics collection with a very cute vintage look because I just adore them.
