Scandinavian style - OYOY

Today I give you a little taste of the OYOY universe. OYOY is  a Danish interior design company that gets it's inspiration from Scandinavian style and Japanese design. They focus on the quality of the materials, the shapes and the combination of colours to provide a cosy, clean and beautiful feeling to their products. You can notice a combination of pastels and neons, of light wood, black and white, and happy colours and simple patterns, like we've grown used to see in Scandinavian homes. You can find all these images and more on their web site here.

Vintage Cutlery

One of the perks of staying at my mother's, on my vacation, was having old "stuff" to photograph. Unfortunately, those two weeks went by so damn fast, I only had time to photograph these pieces of cutlery.
After my mum saw my post about Spoons I was invited to take some pictures of this old relics that somehow found their way into the family (apparently from a hotel in South Africa). I got all excited about it, of course, they are absolutely gorgeous... both the cutlery and the Madeira embroidery, that my mother also provided for the background. But for the first time I was trying to photograph with a small audience and, to be honest, it feels really weird!

Knitted warm covers for furniture

Because the cold is coming and we don't want our furniture with the sniffles.
Or just because they give a warm and cosy atmosphere to our homes.

My house for a weekend

There is a house on Madeira island that I absolutely love. I've been spending a weekend there almost every year since before I remember existing (I have photos to prove it!). This house is on the north coast and in the mountains, so it is the perfect place to escape from the absurd heat and humidity in the city. It may sound strange, but one CAN get tired of sun and warmth.

There is no electricity there, which means: no TV, no computer, no radio, no charging phones (or cameras), no fridge, no electric light! And that is what I love most about it...for 3 days we gather the family there and have a wonderful time just playing board or card games, going for walks in the woods, talking and laughing... and the days feel sooo long... it's just a piece of paradise.

I don't have many photos, and in all honesty the one's I have aren't that good, but maybe you can get a "taste" of the atmosphere there.
