Gorgeous Apartment in Grey | Scandinavian style

Before going fully into Spring Mode, I want to share this beautifully styled apartment for sale on Stadshem. A typical scandinavian interior in tones of grey (and still quite bright) to put end another grey Winter.

I love the little concrete table in the living room.
And the kitchen is just perfect - fresh and yet cosy with the wooden utensils on display - I wouldn't change a thing!

Turn on the lights! | Styling for Autumn

It's true that during the Summer we get these wonderfully long days, here in Denmark, with lots of light from early morning until very late in the evening. But in the Autumn and Winter we get (suffer!) the exact opposite...

Now that the days are noticeably shorter I wanted to share with you this apartment from Fantastic Frank, beautifully styled to translate an Autumn Mood. The lights turned on on every room are necessary even during the day because it's very dark anyway, unless the sun decides to grace us with it's presence and that doesn't happen often.

The various lamps give the rooms a warm colour and cosy - hyggeligt - atmosphere, that is absolutely fundamental to survive the Winter blues (it's that and chocolates). I only wished they had also used some candles because that would give it an even more Scandinavian feeling.

On Instagram (at last)

Yes! I have Instagram now!
I'm still getting the hang of it but I'm having lots of fun and loving it.

You can check my profile here: life_as_a_mooboard. And I also added an Instagram button on the right column, next to my other social networks.

Now I just need a little bit more natural light to use anything as an excuse to walk around the house taking more of these snapshots.

&Tradition | &Autumn

I really love these photos from &Tradition.

The photos were taken on the new &Tradition showroom designed by Norm Architects, and feature their new releases for the Autumn of 2014- like the beautiful Marble Lights.

A gorgeous atmosphere of Nordic simplicity and minimalism.

A Grey Feeling | Nornäs by IKEA

The Summer has been rough on me this year (yes we're actually having a heat wave in Denmark!). So I wanted to share with you  these photos styled for IKEA's new bench - Nornäs.

I'm loving the range of grey tones and the whole fresh Autumn mood.

Tine K's Summer cottage | scandinavian style

About two years ago I shared with you some beautiful photos of Tine Kjeldsen's home (from the danish company Tine K Home), and today I want to show you some images of her Summer cottage.

A typical Scandinavian summer house with a fresh and romantic style, white, grey and neutral tones prevailing, and a mixture of rustic and design pieces.

Looks cozy (hyggeligt) doesn't it?

Beautifully Styled Apartment in Berlin

Another apartment beautifully styled for Fantastic Frank!
This time the stylist was the talented designer Sarah van Peteghem from Coco Lapine Design blog.

Clean lines and simple elements in a spacious and bright 'old canvas' give this apartment a cosy but light atmosphere. And the predominance of black, white and neutral tones makes it look very Scandinavian, even though it's located in Berlin (of course the use of so many Scandinavian design products also helps with that).

If you are curious about some of the furniture or other products used in the styling of this apartment (like the leather straps in the workspace, designed by Mathilda Clahr) go check out Sarah's post here.

Milk Buns | Recipe

Today I'm very excited to share with you my latest culinary obsession - my little 'milk' buns (something like pain-au-lait in french, or pão-de-leite in portuguese).
Now, making bread at home may sound like to much trouble when you can just go to the shop and get some...but trust me, these are no trouble at all and they're so, so worth it!

The recipe is really simple and fairly quick, they taste great (especially with just butter, right out of the oven...hmmmm) and, as a bonus, your home will smell like a bakery!

for 9 buns:
1 egg
50g butter (2 Tb spoons)
1,25dl water (1/3 cup)
1,25dl milk (1/3 cup)
25g yeast (fresh yeast)
60g sugar (5 table spoons)
500g flour (4 ½ cups)
pinch of salt
(optional: one egg yolk and sugar for the topping)

Start by dissolving the yeast in lukewarm water (about 30.C). I use water from the tap, it's perfectly fine. Then add the milk, also warm. Let that rest while you measure the other ingredients, so the yeast starts activating.

Put everything in a big bowl, including the liquids with the yeast, but leave about 1/3 of the flour out. The butter should be at room temperature (or 20 sec in the microwave if you, like me, always forget to take it out of the fridge in time).
Mix the dough very well using the spiral attachment on your electric mixer (the one on the photo above). Add the remaining flour and mix all very well again.

Cover the bowl with kitchen plastic film, or a clean plastic bag and a rubber band, and place it in a warm place. I normally place it next to the radiator, covered with a tea towel. Let it rest for about 30min to 1 hour. The dough should rise a lot and get full of air inside (looks kind of like an alien nest, but that's all right).

Shape the buns and place them on an oven tray covered with parchment paper. I roll them in a bit of flour to help shaping them. And they don't need to be very big, I normally make 9. Let them rest there for 30 more min. They will grow a bit more and look really pretty.

Before putting the buns in a pre-heated oven at 225.C, you can get a nice finishing touch by brushing some egg yolk on top and then sprinkling it with sugar. I normally make half like this (because it reminds me of the buns I had when I was a child) and the other half just plain.

Bakes for 12 to 15 minutes depending on the oven.

Pretty simple right?
As always, if you give it a try I'd love to hear about it.

Norwegian home in tones of grey

This home in Norway belongs to the owners of the fashion an interior webshop Bolina.

Grey tones and a quiet atmosphere are a constant presence in all rooms, but they are complemented with some colourful and whimsical details.
(I just love the wall gallery in the first photo!)
It's interesting to notice the contrast of simple and contemporary design pieces and home-made art or vintage findings. And it's also very beautiful the use of wood, concrete and marble in all those different ways.

If you want to see more go here.
