&Tradition | &Autumn

I really love these photos from &Tradition.

The photos were taken on the new &Tradition showroom designed by Norm Architects, and feature their new releases for the Autumn of 2014- like the beautiful Marble Lights.

A gorgeous atmosphere of Nordic simplicity and minimalism.

New Old Light | design crush

For today's design crush I want to show you the New Old Light by KIMU design studio.
A table lamp made of wood, metal and paper, inspired by the traditional Chinese paper lanterns.
A bit of industrial style with a soft and poetic touch. Loving it!

Friends & Founders | design crush

I just discovered Friends&Founders, a Danish/Swedish design company founded in 2013, and now I have a serious design crush on this lamp.

A beautiful combination of modern and tradition.
And it's like having your own street lamp at home.
Love it!

LABO | design crush

By Daniel Debiasi and Federico Sandri, from design studio Something, Labo is a collection of glass lamps inspired by instruments one could find in a chemistry laboratory.

I like the rather simple details of it all and the fact that the structure of the lamp itself, by being made entirely of glass, is also a lighting element.

LIGHTING | ARIA floor

Today I'm sharing the ARIA floor lamp, designed by Nicoletta Binello for Davide Groppi
A modular light cube, in black matte metal, that follows the current tendency for simplicity and geometry in interiors design.

&Tradition for 2014

One of my favourite design companies is, without a doubt, the Danish &Tradition. Even If I'm not crazy about every single one of their products, I love their general image and their vision... and of course the styling of their catalogues.

In these new photos for the 2014 catalogue you can notice the tendency for the soft pink/nude tones in the whole atmosphere, the marble in their Fly Lounge Table top, and the copper in the new version of the classic Verner Pantone's flower pot. And, though it's not something new, I can't get tired of looking a the Fly Sofa (which has a special spot in my 'dream home' list).

What do you think? Is &Tradition a place where you can find inspiration for your own home?

Everyday by House Doctor

The new catalogue from danish brand House Doctor is out!
I'm sharing with you my favourite photos... The ones I believe that translate some of the tendencies for the 2014 interiors. At least the ones I'm most looking forward to see.

shiny metals & earthy ceramics

Winter Time

We changed to winter time last Sunday, and that means that I now have 4 months of depressing darkness ahead of me. It's 5 o'clock and already night! ...sigh...

It's time to do what Danish people do so well and come up with ways of transforming our homes into shrines of 'hygge' (cozyness). Chain lights and warm blankets are a way to start. Just like the bedroom below from Swedish photographer Daniella Witte.

A diferent Point Of View

The POV (point of view) candle holder.
Created by the Stockholm based atelier Note Design Studio for Menu.
A series of steel candle holders that change accordingly to where you stand and look at it.
Alone or as part of a pattern, the possibilities are impressive.

Industrial Wire Cage Lamps

I love it when I spot beautifully styled interiors with a few Industrial Vintage details.
Even the most modern of the homes can be enriched with a few pieces from another era.
Some of my favourite pieces are these Industrial Wire Cage Lamps, they look great everywhere!
So here's a little round-up, hoping it will inspire you.

The Wood Lamp - Scandinavian Lighting

image via Muuto
Today I'm sharing the Wood Lamp from Muuto. A desk lamp made of pine wood with a rubber cord, in green or white, that represents to it's designers team, TAF Architects:
"...a low-tech antidote to the usually very modern work desk lamps.
All of the details are pragmatically chosen with every screw visible.
The wooden lamp gets a lot of personality with the most simple methods.”

The Edit Lamp - Scandinavian Lighting

I saw this lamp on Emmas design blog a few days ago, and it immediately got my attention. The creation of the Edit lamp, by Joanna Laajisto, came from the necessity of having a small and simple pendant to suit her interior architecture projects. But the process of design, to achieve the desired aesthetics - clean but interesting, modern and classic, demanded many hours of revising and editing, and thus the name "Edit". The lamp can be used as a pendant or attached to a wall fixture, and in three versions: all black, steel/black and brass/black.

“The idea that the light could be fixed to the wall was especially intriguing to me. Wall lamps create a very special ambience”
- Joanna Laajisto -

I personally love the all black on the wall. It reminds me of an old street lamp which, not notwithstanding it's minimalistic lines, still evokes a romantic and poetic atmosphere.

Ice Chandelier - Scandinavian Lighting

The Ice Chandelier was designed by Sofie Refer in 2007 and relaunched this year by &Tradition
This modular pendent, of mouth-blown glass, combines the tradition of the grand glass chandeliers and a  modern approach and expression.
Scandinavian style in it's most elegant and sensual form, as can be attested on the wonderfully styled photos below.
