Kitchen Crush | White on White

This kitchen is in a house in Milan but it could be Scandinavian. The family knocked down some walls to get a kitchen "allrum" (family room), a concept which is very popular up here in Scandinavia. Also very Scandinavian is the use of white, lots and lots of white, that grant a relaxed and bright atmosphere to the whole space. And notice the great mix of clean modern lines, furniture that looks a bit more traditional and an industrial touch with the Tolix chairs.

Yup, I definitely have a kitchen crush on this one!

Dark&White Scandinavian Kitchen

Today I want to show you this gorgeous kitchen in a 155m2 Danish apartment from 1908.

I love that it looks so elegant and yet cosy - with big contrasts of dark and white and a masterful mixture of vintage and contemporary design pieces.
A perfect fit for this wonderful, huge space with it's old, high ceilings in plaster.

Product Help:
In the dining space, the wall lamp - 265 - is from Flos, designed by Paolo Rizzato, and the chairs are a mix of the Eames plastic chairs from Vitra

The kitchen furniture was specially made for this apartment by the Danish company CPH square, and the beautiful and huge pendant - Taraxacum 88 S - is designed by Achille Castiglioni also from Flos.

On the side wall you can see the Stendig Calendar, designed by Massimon Vignelli and to the left a Gubi black stool.

Black and White Kitchen

Today I'm loving this kitchen - with a bit of a dramatic flair - found on Fantastic Frank.

The black walls covered with photo frames are a consistent theme throughout the whole apartment. But I find them particularly original and interesting in the kitchen.

The black frying pans against the black wall is a beautiful, almost understated, detail and allows for the contrast between the black walls and floors and the white tiles and carpentries to be more accentuated.

A single pop of a bold colour, with that ceramic pot on the stove, and we have a truly inspirational kitchen .

Two | Fantastic | Spaces

Today I'm drawing inspiration from the Swedish real estate web site (or should I say institution by now?) Fantastic Frank...again!

Both spaces are uncluttered and bright, with gorgeous white floors...very Scandinavian like.

I can see myself spending hours on that reading corner, beautifully styled in black and white, surrounded by wall art and my favourite magazines.

And the kitchen looks amazing with those white subway tiles all the way to the ceiling.

White Kitchen in the Netherlands

A peaceful, relaxed and white kitchen in a Home in Delft.
Love the fresh atmosphere and the bench under the window.

The wooden stool and the leather handles are designed by Nathalie and Tessa from Nu interieur|ontwerp, who were also responsible by the interior design of the entire home. For more images go here or here (the living room, all in white, grey and black, is also worth seeing).

The Green Kitchen

Today I'm sharing this kitchen with it's fresh soft green tones.
The whole house is decorated in green tones, and you can see more of it here

But personally I'm loving the kitchen.
It feels fresh and perfect for a Spring mood.
The couple that lives here adapted an old work table by covering the top with white tiles, a beautiful and easy solution that adds lots of personality to the space. They also used the same tiles on the backsplash and counters top, tying it all together in a practical and cheap way.
And how gorgeous is the single open shelve with all those mason jars displaying the cooking ingredients?

TEA MUG | design crush

The Pell Mug by Nendo, for COS (Collection Of Style)...beautiful and practical.

I'm a bit of a "neat freak" (within reasonable limits, I think...) , so I obviously fell in love with the nice details for the spoon and for the tea bag!

Retro Kitchen Styling

Today I'm sharing this Kitchen style for Fantastic Frank in the most adorable retro way.

I'm loving the walls all covered in white subway tiles and white retro cabinets, and the graphism of the black and white floor tiles. Plus the plants and flours, which really had a feeling of Spring freshness to it.

nude tones | SNAPSHOTS

Lately, I've been very much into nude tones combined with greys, black and white.
And I noticed, that without really planning it, part of my kitchen has become a display of ceramics and ingredients in those same tones.
So I grabbed a few of those things and took some quick shots.

I'm thinking of framing one of them and have it in the kitchen now!

Vintage Inspiration | Kitchen

I found the perfect Kitchen to start my day!

Bright, calm and white...everything is ready to prepare my coffee... then I'll hold my mug and sit at that vintage, cute little table, looking through the window and slowly awaking.

Design Crush | CEPA - Port Wine Bottle Coaster

With Christmas around the corner, it's time to start thinking about what presents to get for the entire family. I personally love the simple things that, nonetheless, come with good design and full of significance. So I decided to share with you this design piece which I have a serious crush on - especially the cork edition.

Designed by the Oporto based atelier Clínica de Arquitectura, the CEPA is a support for Port Wine Bottles that aims to inspire new ways of presentation and serving rituals. It creates a way of reviving old traditions, like the wine and the wood and cork industry, with a contemporary look and attitude.

"The support is a cylinder made of one single piece of one of the materials - solid wood or cork - both strongly related to the identity of this wine and the Douro Valley, in which two connected cavities are cut out. One of the cavities is dimensioned to fit the bottle. The other is designed to land the stopper..."

You can find the two versions of the coaster for sale on DesignSpray: Cork edition | Wood edition

House Doctor | brightening up the kitchen |

For me, when it's winter time, one of the the best ways to remain cheerful is to go to the kitchen and bake... and try not to look out the window to find out how dark it is already.

So here's a bit of inspiration for the kitchen, from the Danish brand House Doctor's A/W 2013 catalogue.Neutral colours for ceramics, colour blocked and degrades, and some funky neon details...all to brighten up your kitchen!

Kitchen Love - Scandinavian Style

I spotted this kitchen on a Finish blog called Mrs Jones, and I had to start this week by sharing it with you. It belongs to the Sanna familly, who have a design and lifestyle web shop called Nougat, so it's no wonder that many of the details that make this kitchen so special are part of their catalogue.

I love everything about it! The black and white contrasts in the cooking area, with the striped rug, the big ceiling lamp and the chalkboard wall. The small eating area with the Tolix stools for an industrial touch. And the sweet tones and shapes of the painted ceramics and coloured glasses, adding a bit of vintage softness and whim. It's a great source of inspiration on how to get the Scandinavian homey feeling in your kitchen.
