Renovation of a Vila in Portugal

A beautiful mix of Past and Present in this old family house renovation.
The architecture studio Clínica de Arquitecura had as their main objectives: to give the spaces more fluidity, more light and basically a new "life" to the home... but without losing it's particular character and it's memories.

I love all the beautiful details and the amount of care taken to combine old and new in an harmonious way.
My favourites? The general luminosity which makes me feel nostalgic for the summer in Portugal. The new stairs, and the way they belong effortlessly in the old space. And the marble kitchen sink, because it reminds me of the one my grandmother had.

"Sometimes, everything has to change so that everything stays the same...
Today, looking at the house, it seems that it was always like this."

Children Room Inspiration | Welcome Madalena!

I'm so happy!
Yesterday, just a bit after midnight, I got two text messages on my phone saying that my new baby niece had "arrived". We weren't expecting her until next week, but the doctor thought it was safer to make the delivery earlier because she hadn't turn into the right position yet. Now I'm all excited and jittery, just waiting for the wonderful technology of smart phones and the internet to allow me to see this beautiful baby even though we have half a continent and part of an ocean between us.

So, for today's post, a girl's bedroom inspiration (Evie's bedroom) from the blog &SUUS (you can see the original posts here and here). I love the freshness of the white and soft pastels mixed with some beautiful vintage details (how adorable is that little mint green chair?).
Super cute!

the home of...Karine Kong

Today I'm sharing the London home of Karine Kong, from the blog and web-shop Bodie and Fou.
I chose some photos where you can get lots of inspiration on how to decorate and style your home in black and white, mixing vintage and modern styles.

If you you want to know more about some of the furniture, design pieces and art, in this home, you can check out this article on BoligLiv (though it will be written in Danish) or Karine's blog here
Hope you like it!

Indoors garden in an old carpentry

This home in Sweden is a 300 m2 old carpentry that was renovated and is now for sale here.
Simplicity, bright spaces, black and white details, and green plants, are quite common when we are talking about interiors styling in Scandinavia.
But this home takes the idea of an indoors garden to a whole new level.

There are plants everywhere!
I find it fascinating because I really love home plants but, unfortunately, I can't keep them alive for long enough to make it worth having them (except for the occasional bouquet).
Also, notice how the same tones can be found inside the home and outside in the garden.

Beautifully Styled Apartment in Berlin

Another apartment beautifully styled for Fantastic Frank!
This time the stylist was the talented designer Sarah van Peteghem from Coco Lapine Design blog.

Clean lines and simple elements in a spacious and bright 'old canvas' give this apartment a cosy but light atmosphere. And the predominance of black, white and neutral tones makes it look very Scandinavian, even though it's located in Berlin (of course the use of so many Scandinavian design products also helps with that).

If you are curious about some of the furniture or other products used in the styling of this apartment (like the leather straps in the workspace, designed by Mathilda Clahr) go check out Sarah's post here.

White Kitchen in the Netherlands

A peaceful, relaxed and white kitchen in a Home in Delft.
Love the fresh atmosphere and the bench under the window.

The wooden stool and the leather handles are designed by Nathalie and Tessa from Nu interieur|ontwerp, who were also responsible by the interior design of the entire home. For more images go here or here (the living room, all in white, grey and black, is also worth seeing).

Norwegian home in tones of grey

This home in Norway belongs to the owners of the fashion an interior webshop Bolina.

Grey tones and a quiet atmosphere are a constant presence in all rooms, but they are complemented with some colourful and whimsical details.
(I just love the wall gallery in the first photo!)
It's interesting to notice the contrast of simple and contemporary design pieces and home-made art or vintage findings. And it's also very beautiful the use of wood, concrete and marble in all those different ways.

If you want to see more go here.
