&Tradition | &Autumn

I really love these photos from &Tradition.

The photos were taken on the new &Tradition showroom designed by Norm Architects, and feature their new releases for the Autumn of 2014- like the beautiful Marble Lights.

A gorgeous atmosphere of Nordic simplicity and minimalism.

Dot Hanger | design crush

A quick design crush post, while I try to find my bearings again.
(organizing photos, reading and replying to 3 weeks worth of e-mails, getting up to date with all the blogs I follow, preparing new posts, planing some tweaks on my blog, preparing my home and wardrobe for Autumn... wait, did I really just had a vacation?)

The Dot Hanger, designed by Afteroom for MENU.
Graphic minimalism for your walls!

New Old Light | design crush

For today's design crush I want to show you the New Old Light by KIMU design studio.
A table lamp made of wood, metal and paper, inspired by the traditional Chinese paper lanterns.
A bit of industrial style with a soft and poetic touch. Loving it!

A Grey Feeling | Nornäs by IKEA

The Summer has been rough on me this year (yes we're actually having a heat wave in Denmark!). So I wanted to share with you  these photos styled for IKEA's new bench - Nornäs.

I'm loving the range of grey tones and the whole fresh Autumn mood.

Minimal Vase | design crush

Created by Ding3000 design studio for Discipline, the Minimal Vase consists of a wooden base (black or natural) and a steel structure which allows you to use your favourite glass or cup to add a touch of personality and create a different vase any time you wish.

I'm constantly changing little details in my home, so I really love the possibility of having a new vase, in a different style, just by simply changing the container.

What do you think?

Friends & Founders | design crush

I just discovered Friends&Founders, a Danish/Swedish design company founded in 2013, and now I have a serious design crush on this lamp.

A beautiful combination of modern and tradition.
And it's like having your own street lamp at home.
Love it!

TEA MUG | design crush

The Pell Mug by Nendo, for COS (Collection Of Style)...beautiful and practical.

I'm a bit of a "neat freak" (within reasonable limits, I think...) , so I obviously fell in love with the nice details for the spoon and for the tea bag!

The Concrete Table | design crush

The Concrete Table is designed by Sigurd Larsen, a Danish architect based in Berlim.
I love the combination of the oak wood and concrete and the small compartments that can be used to organize so many different things...

...I just wonder how much this thing weighs?!

IKEA PS 2014 | creating a corner

Today I'm sharing the easy chair, designed by Ebba Strandmark for IKEA's 2014 PS collection. It's comforting to see that in a collection "designed for a young, urban crowd on the move" there is still hope for the idea of a phenomenological home and it's spaces of dream.

"Every corner in a house, every angle in a room, every inch of secluded space in which we like to hide, or withdraw into ourselves, is a symbol of solitude for the imagination; that is to say, it is the germ of a room, or of a house."
- BACHELARD, Gaston;  The Poetics of Space -

wall pocket | DESIGN CRUSH

I have a confession to make. I absolutely love pockets. I know it's not the most glamorous thing to do, walk around with my hands in my pockets, but I can't help it. If I had the faintest idea of what to do with a needle and thread I would add pockets to all my clothes...I'm not joking.

I also have a weird eccentric relation with my winter jackets' pockets. I tend to use them to keep an assortment of little things I collect from many different places. A button that fell off my shirt, little folded papers, a small pebble I picked up on the street and, my absolute favourites, hard candy, caramels or lollipops someone gives me for whatever reason. I keep them there because I inevitably forget about them, and every time I put on that jacket and put my hands back in those pockets I rediscover what they are hiding. It's like I'm tricking my brain to be surprised over and over again with these simple everyday things. And I love that!

So, how happy do you think I was when I discovered this wall pocket... a pocket for my home! It's like taking my little quirks to a whole different level. Designed by Copenhagen based design studio Herman Cph,  with the wonderful simplicity characteristic of Scandinavian living, the wall pocket is a practical solution for small spaces or a wonderful poetic one for any space.

VASE SELECTION | in the mood for Spring

With Spring almost here, I'm feeling the urge to bring inside some greeneries and flowers.
I especially like little vases where you can put a single flower or twig.
It looks beautiful in a minimalistic way, and demands a lot less maintenance.

Hope you like my small selection...

&Tradition for 2014

One of my favourite design companies is, without a doubt, the Danish &Tradition. Even If I'm not crazy about every single one of their products, I love their general image and their vision... and of course the styling of their catalogues.

In these new photos for the 2014 catalogue you can notice the tendency for the soft pink/nude tones in the whole atmosphere, the marble in their Fly Lounge Table top, and the copper in the new version of the classic Verner Pantone's flower pot. And, though it's not something new, I can't get tired of looking a the Fly Sofa (which has a special spot in my 'dream home' list).

What do you think? Is &Tradition a place where you can find inspiration for your own home?

SCANDINAVIAN LIVING | Lilja Löwenhielm

Let's start the weekend with this apartment in tones of grey and soft pinks from the Swedish real estate agency Fantastic Frank

Designer Lilja Löwenhielm (who designs, amongst others, for IKEA and Asplund) was invited to style it. As a result you can find many of her creations all over the house contributing for a consistent modern and soft atmosphere.

I really love the details in the nursery... especially because I was told today that (it seems like) my brother's baby is going to be a girl!
