Giveaway Win!

During the Christmas holidays I decided to participate in a few wonderful "giveaways" that some of my favourite blogs were holding. I normally feel a bit shy about participating in these things or even just when leaving comments on other people's blogs (I know!... it's silly) but there were so many gorgeous things that I would love to have for my home that I just couldn't resist. And man!... Am I glad I didn't! I ended up winning two of them!
I'll talk about the second one later (when I receive it), but the first one was held by the Cherry Blossom blog, a blog that belongs to a girl from Norway, with flawless taste, and where I go to for a dose of daily Scandinavian inspiration.

And yesterday I received my prize in a beautiful package from Story North...

The tea towel is from by nord and the mugs are a design by Filippa K for Rörstrand.
Aren't they just perfect?

Choux+Scratchy

I recently found out the amazing work of two illustrators that got together to create the most amazing and cute world in ceramics. The main figure is a little girl with these dreamy and almost sad eyes... but do visit their blog choux+scratchy for more images and to meet the rest of the family.

I just adore this plate with the girl looking at a lady bug...

and how wonderful it would be to sleep on a plate of biscuits...

NÄMÄ shop

All the images below come from an on-line shop called Nämä based in finland. All products available are picked by the shop owner giving preference to local companies, manufacturers and designers. I think Nämä has that atmosphere of the sweet little shop just around the corner, where you go for inspiration and a smile when you feel overwhelmed by "mass production living"... except that this one is available to the entire world via the internet. I chose to share some of the ceramics collection with a very cute vintage look because I just adore them.

Scandinavian style - Nordic Wool ceramics

Nordic Wool is a collection of thermo cups, designed by Pernille Vea for Menu, inspired by the patters of the knit sweaters traditional in the Scandinavian countries. I've made a post about knitted covers for furniture and now I found another fun way of including the warm cosiness of knitting in our homes.

Scandinavian style - Colours

I realised that, on my last post, I mention that we can find the use a very specific combination of colours in many Scandinavian design collections - Black and white, pastel tones and some "pop up" colours - but I don't know if it became clear what I meant by it. So I decided to demonstrate it here with a few more examples of Scandinavian design. And if you usually look for images of Scandinavian interiors, you have most likely seen the same scheme of colours applied to an entire room or home.

Scandinavian style - Mano ceramics

One of my favourite ceramic collection for the home is MANO, by Danish designer Jeanette List Amstrup for Kähler Design. It's a collection of soft, organic, even playful shapes, and they come in a variety of colours that we've gotten used to in Scandinavian products: black and white, pastel tones and some "pop up" colours like yellow, orange or purple. My favourite piece is the cup, I find it just to adorable to be true. I couldn't resist and even got myself a few pieces, which you may have already seen in some my food photos. A real kitchen crush here!

Scandinavina style - ceramist Anne Black

Today I want to share some of the work of the Danish designer Anne Black. Her ceramics have the clean elegance of the classics mixed with contemporary and simple graphics and colours. They are a perfect example of Scandinavian style and you can actually find her products in many styled photographies of Scandinavian homes.
