Turn on the lights! | Styling for Autumn

It's true that during the Summer we get these wonderfully long days, here in Denmark, with lots of light from early morning until very late in the evening. But in the Autumn and Winter we get (suffer!) the exact opposite...

Now that the days are noticeably shorter I wanted to share with you this apartment from Fantastic Frank, beautifully styled to translate an Autumn Mood. The lights turned on on every room are necessary even during the day because it's very dark anyway, unless the sun decides to grace us with it's presence and that doesn't happen often.

The various lamps give the rooms a warm colour and cosy - hyggeligt - atmosphere, that is absolutely fundamental to survive the Winter blues (it's that and chocolates). I only wished they had also used some candles because that would give it an even more Scandinavian feeling.

A Grey Feeling | Nornäs by IKEA

The Summer has been rough on me this year (yes we're actually having a heat wave in Denmark!). So I wanted to share with you  these photos styled for IKEA's new bench - Nornäs.

I'm loving the range of grey tones and the whole fresh Autumn mood.

Food Inspiration | Sweet Paul Magazine #15

I'm in love with the whole menu from an article called 'the tasty embrace of winter cooking' from the last issue of Sweet Paul Magazine #15

With the huge storm that hit us yesterday (and it's still going on), these photos of wonderful comfort food are exactly what I was in the mood for. Just reading the recipes is making me look forward for an opportunity to try them.

Last year I made my New Year's Eve dinner inspired by Sweet Paul...
I think this year I'll do it again!

December

December is here...

I'll be busy all day working on my Christmas decorations, but I wanted to give you a sneak peek.
I am trying to keep the Scandinavian look - simple, black and white - for which I've been gathering inspiration on my Christmas board on Pinterest. Now, all I need is the weather to be consistent with the style and cover everything with a white mantle of snow.

Christmas Inspiration Board

Maybe it's too soon to be thinking about Christmas decorations. But I like to start putting them up on the 1st of December, and I want to have a plan. Well not really a plan. Something like inspiration guidelines. That's why I started a Pinterest Board called | Christmas Inspiration | .

I'm going for some neutral tones and bits of green (a discrete green, and mostly with plants). Also, If I don't feel too lazy, I'd love to make some of the decorations myself. Last year I hanged my own Advent Calendar and some other black and white prints and I really liked the effect. So I've been collecting some more ideas for DIY's that I just may try this year. In paper, or yarn...simple things, nothing to tricky.

Even though I love Christmas - it's without a doubt my favourite time of the year - sometimes the whole thing can be a bit overwhelming. I think that decorating my home following these guidelines will help me keep some of it's usual tranquillity. Especially if it snows...cross my fingers and hope!

If you like the style, you can follow me on Pinterest and stay updated as I continue gathering ideas.

Winter Love | Wool Throws

What's winter without a chunky Throw (or two) to snuggle in comfortably, maybe with a cup of warm tea in your hands and a good book. During this harsh and cold season it, certainly, is all about the details.

These New Zealand wool knit Throws were designed by Amy (from Milo and Mitzy blog) and are hand made locally. They come in several neutral tones and you can order them here

Don't they look just perfect to wrap yourself in?...

Winter Time

We changed to winter time last Sunday, and that means that I now have 4 months of depressing darkness ahead of me. It's 5 o'clock and already night! ...sigh...

It's time to do what Danish people do so well and come up with ways of transforming our homes into shrines of 'hygge' (cozyness). Chain lights and warm blankets are a way to start. Just like the bedroom below from Swedish photographer Daniella Witte.

LINKdeco - Interiors Photography and Styling

I love getting good news right at the beginning of a new day, while still holding my first cup of coffee. For all of us who love interiors, LINKdeco - an agency focused on Scandinavian Interior Photographers and Stylists - as been launched. And it is going to be a (the) place to visit frequently for the best and most inspiring Interior Photography, considering that they are representing amazing professionals such as Lotta Agatton, Petra Bindel, Idha Lindhag, Pia Ulin... and yes you have seen some of their work here at my Moodboard blog.

To show you an example of what you may find there I decided to share some photos styled by Emma Persson Lagerberg and photographed by Petra Bindel for Åhléns Magazine. With an Autumnal and cosy feeling, I love the combination of these warm greys and green tones.

ferm LIVING | a collection full of MORE |

The new catalogue from ferm LIVING is out and it is all about MORE of the inspiring things that this Danish design brand has gotten us used to, and MORE of the trends for next Autumn and Winter. The new photos have a homey feeling in tones of grey that seems just perfect for the cold that will soon be coming.

And 3 new products that I think would make for a great addition to any home. They are such wonderful ideas!

The wooden top for the classic ferm LIVING wire baskets, allowing them to be converted into a side table.

The wooden frame with a leather string to apply to any print you'd like and hang it on the wall.

The iron cloth rack, with leather belts, for clothes or kitchen utensils (or anything you want really).

Bloomingville A/W 2013 - Nordic Atmosphere

A few weeks ago, Bloominville, a Danish company of products for the home, released their 2013 Autumn/Winter catalogue. Bloomingville's concepts and styling are always a good source of inspiration on how to create a Nordic atmosphere, so I decided to share a few images to illustrate some of the next season's trends. A few things to keep in mind: natural wood, warm furs, grey tones, metallic and geometric details.
